Jennifer Proctor-Valdez (MFA 2007) is a filmmaker and former Managing Director of the Cinematexas Short Film Festival and Austin Cinemaker Co-op. Orginally hailing from San Rafael, California, she moved to Austin in 1994 to study study Radio-Television-Film and Philosophy at the University of Texas. After graduating, she worked for KUT Radio, Austin's NPR station and in 2003 decided to pursue her true love of filmmaking at the University of Iowa. Her work has shown at the Aurora Picture Show, Portland Documentary & Experimental Film Fest, Basement Films, Mini-Cine, Splice This!, FLEXfest, SF Cinematheque, Cinematexas, Ms. Films, Dallas Video Fest, Iowa City Documentary Film Festival, Hi Mom! Film Festival, and others. She is also a proud founding member of IC Microcinema and a regular videoblogger. She holds an MA in Film Studies. |
